14.1. Government Agencies
The federal government has the main responsibility for the inland and coastal fisheries of Canada. However, the province has jurisdiction over the fish once they have been landed, this includes recreationally caught fish and those destined for processing plants. Thus, the authority and responsibility for the protection, management, and development, of Canadian fishery resource is divided between federal and provincial governments. What follows is a list of different government departments and their main office address and phone. The government pages in your telephone book give the local/regional offices for these government departments in your area.
